80s Slasher Movie Championship Tournament: Semi-Finals

Special thanks to Reverend Phantom for the awesome banner.

Semi-Finals: Match #1
MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981) vs. FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980)
So far MY BLOODY VALENTINE has beaten both FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 and Dario Argento's OPERA to make it to the Semi-Finals. Not too shabby! Will it be a St. Valentine's Day Massacre for FRIDAY THE 13TH in the Semi-Finals, or will Mrs. Voorhees and the Crystal Lake crew send the Canadian slasher back to its home country with a broken heart, eh?

Semi-Finals: Match #2
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984) vs. A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS (1987)
It's come down to the "best" of the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series versus the one that's considered to be the personal favorite amongst fans of the franchise. Will the original NIGHTMARE go on to the Finals, or will DREAM WARRIORS pull off an upset and make it to prime time, bitch!? Either way, my money's on the one with Freddy Krueger in it.

The polls are open, so feel free to vote as many times as you want, and also thanks to everyone who's voted thus far. I couldn't have done it without you. Well, I could have, but it would have been really awkward.

  1. I voted for the obvious choices that had the greatest impacts on the genre, but my personal favorites are the exact opposite.

  2. I know it's hard to choose with these movies matched up against each other, but thanks for voting anyway guys (and girl). But don't worry, the whole thing is fixed anyway. In the Finals, one of the movies will get beat up in the locker room when the cameras aren't around, and then its replacement is gonna come out in a luchador mask and reveal himself to be a slasher movie that got eliminated back in the qualifying rounds. When the ref isn't looking, he's gonna pull a steel chair out of his pants and hit the other movie over the head with it, which will seal the deal.

    It's all scripted.

  4. I went with what I thought was the better film. Did I miss something, or was Halloween never on the list of films? I don't even remember seeing it, but my memory serves me poorly most of the time.

  5. HALLOWEEN came out in the 70s so it wasn't included in the tournament since this is strictly 80s. HALLOWEEN 2, 4, and 5 were 80s movies though. Part 2 actually almost made it into the top 16 when I "officially" started the tournament. Thanks for voting!
